This sector can be broken down into agriculture, forestry, horticulture and environment.

Agriculture and forestry/horticulture/environment encompasses all professions involved in the cultivation, management, maintenance and science of natural resources. The sector is strongly subject to the influences of nature, i.e. season, weather conditions etc., which also affects working in this sector. Seasonal workers, for example, are part of the completely normal employee structure of many businesses and companies.

Training courses include training as a landscape gardener, gardener the field of gardening and landscaping and farmer. There are study opportunities in the fields of agricultural and horticultural sciences, agricultural biology and horticulture and landscape design. These are often bachelor's degree courses.

The spectrum of employers ranges from large companies, some of which are international in scope, to small/medium-sized companies, family-owned or sole proprietorships, to the public sector as an employer in corresponding offices.
